Sharing three random thoughts with you today!
I was encouraged recently by Luke 12:22-31. “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!” Jesus goes on to tell us that we can’t add a single hour to our lives, for our time on earth has been determined by the God. The ultimate idea is that we should be seeking and storing up treasure in the Kingdom of God, because our lives here on earth are very short and of less value. We are strangers on our way to eternity. For the time being we are here, being sanctified and perfected, being cared for by our Father who knows our every need.
Okay, West Virginians. This place is fire. It recently opened up in Buckhannon, WV and I go about 4 times a week, more if I can. It’s a chill place to hang out and meet friends or read, and it offers so much variety: coffee, beer, and fresh, delicious food. My go to orders include a vanilla latte with macadamia milk (so good!) and a sausage, egg (of course), and cheese breakfast sandwich. I am a big fan of any of their specials and you can’t come here and not have some queso (see below). If you’re from around here, check it out. You’ll probably see me there. Click on their name above and it’ll take you to their site!
I picked up a book at a yard sale a few weeks ago. It’s called “The Memory Keepers Daughter.” It’s based on a true story, and while it wasn’t intense or mysterious, it kept my focus and interest the entire time. It was a beautiful, engaging story and it gave me a look into the lives and minds of the characters. My favorite thing about it was that I could see what each character was feeling and thinking in response to the world around them. It was a good reminder that we don’t always know why someone might respond to things the way they do, and that we can never truly know, outside of disclosure, the kinds of thoughts they battle every day. Our experiences vary case by case. It was especially a good book to read before bed. If you want to check it out, click the title – I linked it.
That’s all I’ve got. What are some things you’ve been into or encouraged by lately?
Hope you’re having a good week!
