Some Life

Happy Monday! Things are starting to move forward over here. We leave on Wednesday morning for Florida. FINALLY. So far it looks like we have a place to live! Trying to find a place fourteen hours away has been messy, but we’re finally talking to a realtor who will let us move in when we get there! Hip hip hooray!

Life is slow and messy right now, but it’s good! I’ve been feeling awful the last few days and I am really hoping it ceases before we leave for the fourteen hour trek to FL. That would be miserable! Anyway, here’s what life has look liked around here.


We’ve been spending a good bit of time with family. Our reasoning for being in Elkins was to be able to say goodbye (not goodbye forever, just goodbye for now). It’s been really great. It’s also been really bittersweet. Doubts start to creep in when I realize all that we’re leaving behind, but I know that’s not of the Lord. We have an abundant life and family waiting for us.


Food has been, well, messy… I have made dinner a few nights a week, but for the most part we’ve been eating quick meals and we’ve been eating out A LOT. To be honest it’s kind of exhausting. We ate out everyday this last weekend because of family wanting to have dinner before we leave. Not to mention, I was sick all weekend so food honestly grossed me out. I’ve been eating crackers with apple juice for breakfast and then some cereal later. We will be eating out for every meal as we travel this week. I’m a creature of habit and I love routine, so this is probably a good and necessary challenge.

The dinner’s I did make consisted of turkey burgers, crockpot meals, nachos, and other simple meals. I did try a new breakfast which was the BOMB. Try it: about a cup of mashed sweet potato mixed with maple syrup, cinnamon, and sea salt, topped with banana, chia seeds, walnuts, almond butter, and more maple syrup. I die.

I know I sound like a broken record, but life is just MESSY. As is exercise. I probably work out four times a week right now, with walks here and there. I typically do a lower body workout, an upper body workout, and a couple runs with some yoga. I just listen to my body and do what feels right, which is a place I’m thankful to be at!


I still read first thing in the morning, and right now I’m reading Jeremiah. My reading direction has been to read consistently through the OT and stopping after each book to read something in the NT before starting the next OT book. It helps me remember the center of it all: Jesus. Along side Scripture, I’m reading a Lineage of Grace, which I highly recommend this and any of Francine Rivers books.

Other Activities

Apart from spending time with family, we have tried to keep ourselves busy with other things. We went to the movies, spent time with a few friends here, and made a quick trip to the tower, which is literally just a tall tower overlooking mountains. It’s a beautiful sight! We have also been watching a ton of sports, and by we I mean Nick. I’m just in the room and what else am I going to do? Can someone please tell me how golf is entertaining? I just don’t get it.

Today and tomorrow will be spent loading up the U-Haul and then Wednesday we head out. It’s going to be an adventure and I’ll be sure to bring you guys along.
